Welcome to the beach!

Venture from our farm out to the Oregon Coast and stay in one of our Newport duplex units (or both, if your group is large) or our Waldport 1924 Craftsman. Both houses have direct access to the water.

Located within walking distance of the Nye Beach Historic District, our two-story duplex in Newport features a Lower and Upper Retreat, each with views of the Pacific and stair access to four miles of beautiful, sandy coastline across the street.

Our Craftsman is one of the original houses in Waldport and sits across the street from the Upper Alsea bay, the breakers to the Pacific in view. The house makes for easy walking to restaurants and shops along the Pacific Coast Highway 101, the farmers market, and the bridge across the bay.

Maple Street Beach House, Waldport, Oregon

Check out our other rental property, the Maple Street Beach House located in Waldport, Oregon, about 20 minutes south on Hwy 101, right where Hwy 34 dead ends in the bay. We restored this house back to its original beauty back in 2014, wood floors and all. The house is four-bedroom, two bath, and at 2600 square feet, is perfect for groups of up to 8 guests.

The fenced yard is large and we created a private patio space in the back with a barbecue. The house has a working fireplace, newly designed kitchen, comfortable seating and a bay view. We’re dog-friendly, too!

See photographs and book on the Ocean Odyssey website.

Things to Do

There are lots of things to do in and around Newport. Let’s start with the obvious: across the street from the retreat and down the stairs is 4 miles of beautiful Newport coastline.  After exploring, you can walk to Historic Nye Beach where you can dine and shop.  Or, head down to Yaquina Bay State Park, which is only a half-mile away, and visit the Yaquina Bay Lighthouse and the Yaquina Bay Bridge.

Cross the Yaquina Bay Bridge and you’ll find yourself near the Oregon Coast Aquarium and Hatfield Marine Science Center. The Hatfield Marine Science Center operates on a suggested donation basis and is a wonderful place to take the kids. While there, be sure to check out the resident giant Pacific Octopus. As you venture further into Newport, you’ll find great food and activities at the Newport Historic Bayfront, an active, working port.  You can visit the docks, go crabbing, and see the sea lions.  And, if you love seafood, don’t miss Local Ocean Dockside Grill & Fish Market.

Also in Newport, you’ll find the Yaquina Head LighthouseAgate Beach, and plenty of other things to keep you busy. If, however, you find yourself looking for other things to do, you can head north on Hwy 101 and hit Depoe BayBoiler Bay, and Lincoln City. Or, head south to WaldportYachats, and Florence. You can also trek inland to Corvallis and visit the OSU Campus and experience the wines of the Willamette Valley.
